How to achieve the best performance of insulating glass?

The well-designed and well-manufactured insulating glass edge system determines the durability and service life of the insulating glass system. That means, the best performance can only be achieved when spacers, sealants, desiccants, connectors, glass, etc. are perfectly bonded to each other.

This puts forward higher requirements on the thermal performance of insulating glass.

One of the ways this can be done is to further reduce the thermal conductivity of the spacer. Replacing the stainless steel in our spacers with a metalized foil and using an engineered styrene acrylonitrile resin (SAN), allows us to achieve the lowest thermal conductivity in our offering.

An innovative high precision extrusion process sets the high thermal performance gasket apart. Dimensional accuracy also minimizes variance between published thermal performance values and produced IG units. The resulting pads have a high-quality smooth, bright surface finish with light grooves that protect the pads from scratches and dirt. Due to the orientation of the fiberglass, the spacers do not irritate the skin when handled.

Durability considerations are extremely important when using high thermal performance spacers because they do not use a solid metal vapor barrier. These spacers should only be used in combination with certain sealants which have been tested in combination with the spacer and performance verified to ensure long-term performance. The multi-layer design and the way the metal foil is applied maximizes barrier performance. Crucially, the high breaking strength prevents breakage during insulating glass manufacturing.
